Water quality and quantity are vital to Michigan residents. Clean water is important for use, recreation and preserving the environment. This is why Governor Rick Snyder has tasked state agencies to create a water strategy for the next 30 years.
Sustainability of MI Water Sources
The report will be a cooperative effort from several state departments, including the Office of Great Lakes, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The strategy will focus on effective management of MI water sources. Key topics include:
- Invasive species
- Water withdrawal, water use and conflict
- Water quality and infrastructure
A public engagement initiative will be released soon to increase awareness of the upcoming report and the importance of preserving our beautiful Michigan water sources.
