Ann Arbor Holiday Spirit-University of Michigan

Ann Arbor Holiday Spirit-University of Michigan

UM green exhibitThe University of Michigan is in full holiday spirit once again this year. The university botanical gardens is hosting an earth-friendly exhibit, 50 Shades of Green, until early January 2014. Another group of dedicated Wolverines is celebrating its fifth year of trying to bring a little joy into the holidays for local Ann Arbor children.

What exactly does being “green” mean?

50 Shades of Green is a celebration of the color of nature. It is also an appreciation for conservation efforts and environmentally inspired arts. The holiday exhibit is on display until January 5, 2014, at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The conservatory will use examples from its collection to broach a number of “green” meanings and topics. Also featured are scheduled programs and performances, seasonal flower displays, tree decorating ideas, holiday items for sale and more. Free admission. Open daily 10 am-4:30 pm; Wednesday until 8. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

Michigan students answer the call of service again in 2013.

For the fifth year in a row the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research reached out to the local Washtenaw County community in their time of need. The team collected and donated 150 Christmas bags for the District’s Education Project for Homeless Youth. Each bag contained age-appropriate books, an educational game or toy, gloves and a hat for the K-5 students.

Chuck It Junk Removal congratulates the students and faculty of the University of Michigan for their relentless dedication to improving the quality of life in Ann Arbor.
